MARSHALL, TEXAS—Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) has endorsed Garrett Boersma for State Representative in House District 9.

“I am thrilled to have the support of the Young Conservatives of Texas,” said Boersma. “YCT is one of the state’s leading political organizations. Their commitment to conservative values and principles is exemplary, and I’m honored to have their endorsement.”

Boersma’s campaign has increased momentum with Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Texas Right to Life, Texas Values, and others choosing to endorse Garrett Boersma over incumbent, Chris Paddie.

“My opponent has shown a failure to lead on issues important to conservatives,” Boersma said. “The fact remains that while he has been in office, Texans have yet to receive property tax relief and are seeing an increase in burdensome government regulations. This has to stop. The time has come to elect new leaders who will fight for them and not big government.”

Garrett Boersma is lifelong consistent conservative Republican and experienced businessman with a proven record of fighting for limited government, lower taxes, and our Christian values during his two-terms on the Marshall City Council.

Garrett has been endorsed by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, Texas Values, Texas Right to Life, Texas Home School Coalition, and Grassroots America We The People.

Garrett Boersma Announces Candidacy For Texas HD 9

For Immediate Release

Marshall, Texas – Garrett Boersma of Marshall, local businessman and former two-term City Commissioner, declared his candidacy for the Texas House of Representatives for House District 9 today. Boersma is running in the Republican primary.

“It is a great honor to announce my candidacy for the Texas House of Representatives. As a sixth-generation resident of Harrison County, the welfare and prosperity of my friends and neighbors throughout the east Texas region is my first and greatest priority.”

“During the legislative session, Governor Abbott’s conservative agenda was derailed thanks to members of the Texas House. A prime example of an opportunity lost was the failure to pass property tax reform, a top Abbott priority. We need property tax relief. I will fight to ensure East Texans receive the property tax relief they have been waiting for.”

“My steadfast commitment and pledge is to remain a consistent, reliable conservative voice for the core values we share. It is my firm belief that a basic principle of any elected official is to be a faithful steward of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars. State spending should be cut where appropriate and whenever possible. Our state budget should be truly balanced, with no accounting gimmicks. All Texans will prosper and our Texas economy will strengthen and grow when government is constrained to its proper role, competitive free enterprise is encouraged, and the liberty of the individual is protected.”

“Texas has issues to resolve and taxpayers deserve better results from our state legislature. We must improve our education system overall and how it is financed. Another need is to improve the delivery of transportation infrastructure with a focus on the completion of I-369.”

Garrett Boersma is an experienced businessman and consistent Christian conservative. Boersma’s professional background includes commercial real estate finance and commercial real estate property development.

Garrett is committed to our community, serving as a member of the Courthouse Preservation Council and the Citizen’s Advisory Council. He has also volunteered countless hours as past President of the Harrison County Historical Museum, and as a former board member for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Pines, Harrison County Historical Commission and the Harrison County Children’s Services board.

Texas House District 9 includes the counties of Cass, Marion, Harrison, Panola, Shelby and Sabine.
